INFORMATION REVEALED WHILE BROWSING
If you merely browse through the SMBAs Web site reading, printing, or downloading information, such as consumer brochures or press releases, no personally identifying information will be revealed about you. During such a visit, only the following limited "navigational information" will be disclosed to staff and directors of the SMBA:

  1. The name of the domain from which you accessed our Web site. For example, if you are connecting from an America Online account, the fact that someone who visited this Web site uses AOL as an Internet service provider will be known, but the individual e-mail address (the portion of the e-mail address that proceeds the domain name) will not be known.
  2. The date and time any page was accessed on the office's Web site.
  3. The address (also called the URL) of the Web site from which any page on this site was linked. For example, if you clicked on a hyperlink on the Web site of the Missouri Bar Association to reach the SMBA Web site, that fact is recorded. However, as discussed above, your actual identity remains unknown.

This information is used solely for internal purposes. This data allows the SMBA to measure the number of people who access the different sections of the Web site and to help make our site more useful to you. "Cookies" are computer devices which can allow a web site to track information about a web site user's browsing habits during multiple visits of a web site user to a web site. The SMBA web site uses cookies to allow SMBA members to log in and keep them logged in when viewing members-only areas of the site. The public pages (requiring no log in) do not employ cookies.

YOUR REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
There are various locations where you may request information, such as brochures, be mailed to you. Should you make a request for information, the personally identifiable information you disclose as part of making that request is disclosed to staff or directors of the SMBA so your request may be fulfilled. Your personally identifiable information is not used or maintained for any other purpose.

LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE
Members of the public who need legal assistance are welcome to use the SMBA Lawyer Referral Service on line. The Lawyer Referral Service is composed of SMBA member attorneys who indicate that they wish to receive referrals in particular areas of law. Your personal identity will not be gathered or disclosed by the SMBA. However, the total number of inquiries received will be periodically disclosed to panel members.
